Al Hilal Bank Office Tower Wins Commercial Project of the Year at MEA Awards

11.30.2016

At the 2016 Middle East Architect Awards, held November 29 at the Conrad Dubai, the Al Hilal Bank Office Tower, designed by Goettsch Partners, received the Commercial Project of the Year award. The award recognizes project designs that provide an excellent working environment for employees, while also making the most of sustainable initiatives.

The jury agreed that it would be a pleasure to work in such a building and called it “an elegant design solution with excellent attention to detail.”

The building, located on Abu Dhabi's Al Maryah Island, consists of three large cubical masses, resembling stacked, shifted blocks. The facade, intended to convey a timeless image, is composed of a glass-and-aluminum curtain wall system with notched metal spandrels and vertical glass fins.

Recently receiving an Estidama 1 Pearl rating for its sustainable design, the project has further been recognized with design awards from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat and the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
