GP has opened a new office in Denver, Colorado. As of July 1, the firm has taken space in the heart of the thriving LoDo district at the Triangle Building, across the street from Denver Union Station. The office brings support to local projects while positioning the firm for strategic growth in the West.

GP established the office to help serve clients on five buildings currently in design and construction, as well as plan for the future. Working in collaboration with such developer clients as Riverside Investment & Development, Golub & Company and Schnitzer West, GP is designing a mix of commercial office and multifamily residential projects in the LoDo, RiNo and Cherry Creek neighborhoods. Select work includes the 30-story, 700,000-square-foot 1900 Lawrence office tower, which broke ground in April, and the first phase of the Denargo Market complex, which includes three buildings, as well as other projects to be announced soon. The Denver office will allow GP to support more local work, along with more regional projects in the West, while also expanding potential for the firm’s additional core specialties in hospitality and mixed-use developments.

“We are very pleased to bring our commitment to design quality, technical expertise and personal service to the Denver market,” said James Zheng, AIA, LEED AP, GP co-CEO and president. “We have great respect for our peers and collaborators there and look forward to developing a vibrant practice.”

In addition, former GP colleague Charles W. Wittleder, AIA, CDT, LEED AP, has rejoined the firm in the Denver office as an associate principal. Chuck returns to the firm after more than three years of working and living in Denver. He brings 17 years of experience with GP and 27 years of experience overall. Chuck is a vital part of growing the Denver office with local talent and support from the main office in Chicago. Chuck’s previous work with GP includes such key projects as the 783,800-square-foot LEED Platinum Zurich North America Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois; the 180-key Viceroy Chicago hotel in Chicago’s Gold Coast; the five building, 5.7 million-square-foot Abu Dhabi Global Market Square complex in the UAE; and the 24-story Al Hilal Bank Office Tower, also in Abu Dhabi.

“We are delighted to welcome Chuck back to the firm,” noted Paul De Santis, LEED AP, design partner at GP. “His recent years in Denver, as well as his deep knowledge of our work and approach, will help distinguish us in the local market.”

In addition to work in Denver, the firm has active office, hospitality, residential and mixed-use projects in Chicago, Austin, Charlotte, Columbus and Nashville, as well as in more than 15 cities internationally.
