GP Partners Goettsch and De Santis to Present at CTBUH 2018 Middle East Conference

10.19.2018

The CTBUH 2018 Middle East Conference will explore the theme of “Polycentric Cities: The Future of Vertical Urbansim.” Taking place October 20–25 across venues in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the conference includes more than 300 speakers, with feature presentations from two GP design leaders.

On October 21 in Dubai, GP chairman and co-CEO James Goettsch, FAIA, will present “Why Sustainability is a Challenge for Developers." His presentation will focus on the energy consumption of two Chicago office towers: 150 North Riverside and 110 North Wacker. Both buildings are similar in terms of height, location and floor plate, and they were designed with five years of each other. During that time, though, the allowable energy consumption requirement was reduced by 27.2%. Goettsch’s presentation will explore how this reduction was achieved on 110 North Wacker and the effect on the design.

On October 25 in Abu Dhabi, GP partner Paul De Santis, LEED AP, will present “Abu Dhabi Global Market Square: Exposing the Environmental Strategies Behind Al Maryah’s Landmark." De Santis will discuss the sustainable initiatives behind the five-building complex, which was recognized as the CTBUH 2013 Best Tall Building for the Middle East & Africa. A comprehensive tour of the complex will follow the presentation.
